Obtaining: Cocoa butter, also known as theobroma oil, is actually edible vegetable fat derived from cocoa beans. Theobroma cocoa is an evergreen tropical tree, native to the Amazon rainforests and some other river basins, which is now grown in West Africa and tropical Asia. It contains triglycerides such as palmitic, stearic and oleic acids.
Benefits: It helps dry skin improve reasonably quickly. It can be considered as an occlusive film former, which eventually decreases the loss of moisture from the skin, and therefore makes the skin softer and smoother. It also nourishes the skin in the process of doing so. The fatty acids in cocoa butter are useful to allow other ingredients to penetrate the skin more easily.
